angel-564351_1280

Feeling stressed out with all the Christmas prep?

Or do I find you chilling out sipping a Baileys?  ( I’d like mine with ice, please!)

I know you want to sail into the New Year, like a beautiful scene from a winters movie, with you, money and Christmas having a great time together so here are some last minute tips to do just that.

  • This time of year emotions around money tend to get ramped up and it can be challenging financially. Take 15 minutes out and listen to this relaxing recording on financial wellbeing.
  • Every looked at how much you spend on Christmas food? Before you hit the supermarket craziness next week do you fancy saving more than 50% on your bill? Check out the latest Eat Well For Less Christmas edition where they save the family a whopping £800 on their Christmas!
  • Don’t struggle to do it all alone. Kick off the New Year with My Money Buddy Service for making 2016 the year you get your money sorted out once and for all.
  • We all know really that advertiser’s work very hard at tugging our heart strings so beware! They are now using neuroscience to really get inside our brains.  https://www.marketingweek.com/2015/11/12/post-office-brings-neuroscience-to-its-christmas-advertising-campaign/
  • And do remember it’s not all about the presents……Watch this heart warming  video from IKEA which reminds us what children really want for Christmas. Brought a tear to my eye this one….

Have a wonderful Christmas everyone.

Christmas

A short and sweet link to an article written by the talented Jessica Hill on Women and Money.   Us ladies often get the raw end of the deal with sterotypes such as us not being able to go shopping without getting a new pair of shoes, but Jess quashes these highlighting research that shows women are much more analytical around money than perceived.

Jess interviewed me for the article, so expect a few well chosen comments from me , along with top five tips for managing your money together.

Check it out at here.

Why we find it difficult to do it alone……(and how to use a simple brain trick to solve that)

tomorrow money

I’ll go to the gym tomorrow…………..the diet starts on Monday………………..I’ll start really paying attention to my money once this month is out of the way……

Sound familiar?

I don’t think there is anyone who hasn’t thought like that at some point, or eek, quite often, in their lives.

The trouble is we all have a sense of what are hopes and dreams are.  We can sense the feeling of being a stone lighter, or hitting that six figure income, or feeling we are on the right track with money and life, but somehow the actually doing eludes us.

Forming new habits, and making change is a toughy.  Our brains are wired to work by referencing back to past experiences, and behaviours.  We have carved out pathways in our brains by doing this and our brains love to use the path of least resistance.  No hacking your its way through the rainforest for your brain, it wants that wide open well trodden path thank you very much.

So how can we change?  Is it just sheer willpower? Or can we harness something else to help us on our way?
