I was delighted to be asked to be a guest on Tipping the Balance with the lovely Katie Hickey.

Katie podcast in based around the idea that we can all admit to wishing we had more balance in our lives.

I don’t know about you but how many times have you said, “I just don’t have the right balance at the moment.”

Maybe you think you need to work less, have more (or less!) time with your children, get outside more, exercise more, eat more healthily.  What ever it is you and almost everyone else has an idea of what balance means to them, their lives and their mental health.

Her podcast Tipping the Balance, explores these concepts with a range of different people. Parents, business owners, people living with grief, overcoming abuse, mental health specialists.

Hopefully you can listen to these shows and feel in someway you have spent time tipping the balance in favour of your own mental health.  You can find Katie on instagram @thebalanceddoula.

The episode that I am part of we discuss all things money. How can we get the balance right with working, managing homes and childcare whilst also working towards financial freedom?  I provide some mindset and as ever practical action steps you can take.

Take a listen right now to debunk the myths around money, be empowered financially as a women, and get those important practical steps to financial freedom.

Significant Disposable Income Is ALL Yours

money, disposable, income

I know that inside that head of yours lies a desire to have more disposable income.  Lovely money that you can do exactly what you like with..  (Mmm I have a picture of me diving into a pool of cash….OK maybe that’s more of a dream sequence but hey why not…)

Interestingly though I want you to stop for a second to double check what happens to you when I say significant disposable income can be all yours….

That’s right

STOP

BREATHE

SIT

and really feel what is going on for you.

All too often what accompanies a statement like this is a churning in the stomach, a heaviness in the shoulders, or a fleeting ache in the head….as you contemplate why for you it would be not be possible, and just too damn hard, and in preference you better trot off down to the corner shop to pick up your euro-millions ticket.

If this is the way that statement makes you feel I have news for you.

You are not alone.

BUT there is a way UP.  That you have control of.

  1. Firstly tune into these feelings, and the accompanying thoughts.  Really let yourself feel them.
  2. Then imagine them all squashed into one of those stress balls.
  3. Imagine you are holding it in your hand
  4. and then just let it go…..

When we feel negative or stress about something then its our bodies and mind’s way of telling us that something else, something better is trying to make itself known.

BUT whilst we hold onto the negative thoughts and feelings we are too occupied to let ourselves find out what that might be.

…..And to be honest it can be downright scary to step into our greatness and not have the ball to hold onto.

SO be BRAVE let the ball go and be curious about what the positive is that is trying to make itself known.  What do you need to feel, to think, to do in order that significant disposable income can come your way.

How to never work again! In 5 simple steps.

balloon-1167218_1280

Financial freedom.

What does that mean to you?

Having enough money to do whatever you want, whenever you want?

Know you have enough money to live a comfortable life without working?

Or maybe for you, it is working but having more choice about who you work for and how you work.

Whichever it is that floats your boat and sounds ideal to you is great, BUT what is your plan to get there?

Hoping it out?

Are you just hoping that your good intentions will get you there?

Or maybe you just think it is too difficult so have just shelved the idea altogether, hoping something will happen along the way?

If so you are in good company as one of 55% of people in the UK who say they feel inadequately prepared for the future.

But you know that hoping isn’t the way forward….but you wish there was someone who could show you the way to do it (and preferably in some easy to follow way!)

The 5 steps to financial freedom

  • Make sure your income is in tip top condition

Challenged yourself on your income lately?  Often we get stuck in a rut of well that is just the way things are here or we are lucky to be paid what we do.  In my experience though often we set our own limits on what we expect our income to be.  Why not apply for that job that is a whole pay grade above your expectations – you might be surprised.

  • Are you managing your money well on a day to day and month to month basis?

That feeling of money slipping through your fingers can be solved by a few simple tweaks that still provide you freedom.

  • How are your investments doing? Are you even investing at all?

If you leave your money to do nothing it is just moving backwards all the time.  You know how you say the cost of living is always rising – well you need to consider making your money work for your in order to keep pace.

  • Ever thought about creating another income stream?

This is an important key to your success – you can’t just save your way to financial freedom. Think rental property or maybe a small online business?  There is a lot of ideas out there just waiting for your input.

  • And the big booster – how is your current lifestyle?

You choose where you deploy your money. Ever wondered if you could get your financial freedom now or in 5 years? I have many clients who just needed to reorganise and boost a couple of areas and were surprised at how quick they could attain their freedom.
